Nationally Determined Contributions, Nature-Based Solutions and Access To Climate Finance For Climate Change Adaptation

Dates: 24 Feb 2022 - 25 Feb 2022

Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) are fundamental and form the core of the Paris Agreement and provide the framework for countries climate policies.

NbS plays a crucial role in climate change mitigation and adaptation. They often serve as an effective carbon sink and increase communities’ resilience to the impacts of climate change through the reduction of impacts from natural disasters including floods, storm surges and drought. Importantly, human adaptation to the impacts of climate change cannot be achieved only through mitigation actions such as energy efficiency and technology and knowledge transfer, but more importantly via NbS.

This training seeks to encourage opportunities to integrate NbS into their NDCs as part of their climate commitments. It aims to enhance the knowledge of NbS for climate change mitigation/adaptation and the opportunities for Contracting Parties to include in their NDCs.

This training workshop aims to offer participants an overview of the most relevant aspects for implementing NDCs (financing, mitigation and adaptation actions, transparency etc.) as well as other requirements under the Paris Agreement and intends to provide support to national governments in the process of including nature-based solutions in their National Determined Contributions.
